1969 Volkswagen

Beetle 1,600cc Dual-Port 4-Speed

What We Like

Engineered by Ferdinand Porsche, the Type 1 Beetle was a triumph of design, packaging, usability, reliability, and sales volume. This 1969 "sedan" appears to be a tidy example powered by an upgraded dual-port 1,600cc engine paired with a replacement 4-speed manual gearbox, and features a cosmetic refresh in attractive Diamond Blue over an Off-White/Oatmeal cabin. Recent improvements reportedly include new floor pans, replacing the seven-piece headliner, carpets, upholstery, some body seals, bumpers, and more. It's becoming challenging to find turn-key Type 1 Beetles these days--this one provides its next owner with an opportunity to hop in and enjoy straight away!

Vehicle History & Overview

This 1969 Beetle was delivered new with a single-port 1,500cc flat-four engine paired with an "AutoStick" transmission. A dual-port 1,600cc engine and 4-speed manual gearbox are now installed, and refurbishment in recent years reportedly includes a re-spray in Diamond Blue plus an interior refresh including a correct seven-piece headliner, Oatmeal carpets, off-white upholstery and door panels, a replacement dashboard, body seals, floor pans, bumpers, hub caps, and more. A spare wheel/tire assembly and associated jack accompany the sale.

Note that this Beetle was sold on Marqued in August 2022 and the selling dealer recently purchased it back from the prior auction winner. Approximately 50 miles have been added since the previous auction.
