2001 Mercedes-Benz

SL500

What We Like

The Mercedes-Benz R129-chassis design is altogether classic and aggressive, especially when optioned with the factory AMG-styling kit featured on this example. This SL500 shows just over 83k-miles, has an accident-free Carfax report, and often missing items like the factory hardtop, hardtop cover, and stand are included. The vehicle is believed to be highly original other than a replacement convertible top. Service history highlighted on the Carfax report includes replacement of the valve-cover gaskets and alternator. This late-model SL500 will be a great addition for German-car fans.

Seller Information

Vehicle History & Overview

Per the included accident-free Carfax report, this SL500 spent most of its life in Florida before moving to New York in July 2020. The seller acquired the vehicle in February 2022 and has added approximately 100 of the total 83,600 miles shown. Service history highlighted on the Carfax report includes replacement of the valve-cover gaskets and alternator as well as transmission service. The car appears to be highly original, with the only modification being a brown soft-top replacing the black original version.

Mercedes-Benz launched the R129-chassis SL-class in 1989. Classic long-hood, short-deck styling was accentuated with a low, wide stance that gave the car massive road-presence. Performance matched the good looks thanks to a variety of powerful engines, the most common of which is the 5.0L V8 featured on this example. Smooth-shifting automatic transmissions were the most common and were paired with a solid, yet sporting chassis to create superb road-manners. Production ended in 2002.
