1958 Morris

Minor Traveller

What We Like

Attractive post-war styling, contemporary performance, compact dimensions, and individuality make for a great car. This 1958 Morris Minor Traveller ticks all of those boxes and has the added bonus of a distinctive ash wood rear body. Power comes from a supercharged "Spridget" 1,275cc engine, while a Sprite 4-speed manual gearbox handles power. Updated electrical, braking, and suspension systems help increase overall reliability, while a large rear storage area and fold-down rear seat provide surprising practicality. Add an attractive period color combination and this Traveller becomes a very interesting and distinctive package. This little Morris is equally capable of running around town or sparking conversation at your local cars and coffee event!

Seller Information

Vehicle History & Overview

The seller acquired this Traveller in July 2012 and has since updated and upgraded the vehicle to its current specification. Work under current ownership includes installing a supercharged "Spridget" 1,275cc inline-four, a Sprite 4-speed manual gearbox, updated electrical system, updated braking system and much more as listed in the Modifications section below. An exterior respray and interior retrim were completed prior to the seller's purchase in 2012. Per the seller, only about 150 miles have been added since 2012.

The Morris Minor was launched in 1948 and received updates until production ceased in 1971. The Minor-based Traveller was released in 1952 and was updated to Series III specification in 1956, which is the version offered here. Travellers were constructed using an ash wood structure that was affixed to a Morris Minor chassis. The wood frame was varnished instead of painted, and is a defining characteristic of this version of the Minor.
