1950 Jaguar

Mk V 3.5L Saloon

What We Like

Draped in organically curvaceous post-war styling, the Jaguar Mk V Saloon is the epitome of elegance. This example was originally finished in Birch Grey over a Grey interior and features the more desirable and larger 3.5L inline-six-cylinder engine. It was later fitted with striking red upholstery. The selling dealer reports that the prior owner kept this Mk V for nearly 60 years, and it has been parked in a barn since 1966. This Jaguar Mk V is being offered at NO RESERVE, and is ripe for restoration to its former glory.

Vehicle History & Overview

This Jaguar Mk V Saloon reportedly had a single owner for nearly 60 years. The selling dealer acquired the car in December 2021, and is now selling it at No Reserve. Per the included JDHT certificate showcased in the Servicing & Documentation section below, the car left the factory in November 1949 finished in Birch Grey with grey upholstery. Based on the inspection sticker highlighted in the Servicing & Documentation section below, it's possible that this vehicle has been parked since sometime around 1965. The selling dealer notes that the engine does not turn and the vehicle is in need of a full refurbishment.

The Jaguar Mk V Saloon was launched in September 1948. The car featured many firsts for Jaguar, including independent front suspension, hydraulic brakes, fender skirts, disc centre wheels, 16-inch balloon-type tires, sealed-beam headlights, and flashing turn-signals (required for the North American market). In addition, Jaguar designed the car to allow for both left- and right-hand-drive versions, which aided production. Series production ended in 1951.
