Vehicle History & Overview

This XJ6 Vanden Plas has remained with the same family since it was purchased new in March 1985. Some service records from 1985 are provided and recent work includes new front/rear brakes and A/C system repairs completed in mid-2021. Documentation indicates a re-spray in the original color was performed in 2004, and the vehicle appears to be well-preserved overall. The owner's manuals, factory electrical wiring diagram, dealer pricing guide, and factory Jaguar Vanden Plas cassette tape entitled "The Total Driving Experience" are all provided.

The Jaguar XJ6, launched in 1968, was the last car penned by company founder Sir William Lyons. The latter of two major revisions, known as Series III, was released in 1979 and received styling updates from renowned design-studio Pininfarina. Jaguar's legendary 4.2L inline-six featured Bosch fuel injection manufactured under license by Lucas and was paired with a Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic transmission. Vanden Plas versions received unique burled walnut trim and Connolly Autolux leather as well as most of the options from lesser trims as standard equipment. Production ceased in 1992.
