1970 Chevrolet

Corvette Stingray Convertible 4-Speed

What We Like

This C3-chassis Corvette is the textbook definition of a resto-mod thanks to a fuel-injected V8 engine, new leather interior, upgraded brakes, a refurbished chassis, and classic bodywork draped in radiant Marlboro Maroon paint. The seller spent more than four years and nearly $35,000 bringing this unfinished project to life. Impressive details include a F.A.S.T. engine management system, Edelbrock cylinder heads, a color-matched factory hardtop and Rallye wheels, factory fiber optics light monitoring system, aftermarket keyless entry system, upgraded cooling system, Pypes stainless-steel exhaust, and more. The next owner of this resto-mod will benefit from the seller's many hours of work in creating this one-of-a-kind Corvette.

Seller Information

Vehicle History & Overview

The seller purchased this Corvette as an unfinished project in October 2003, with most of the car being delivered in boxes. He then spent the next four years lovingly refurbishing many aspects of the car, including refinishing the frame and bodywork, applying lustrous Marlboro Maroon paint, and installing a new interior from Corvette America. Because the factory engine was unusable, the seller purchased a similar “L46” 350ci V8 engine, rebuilt it, and added modern fuel injection, F.A.S.T. engine management, upgraded Edelbrock cylinder heads, and much more. The factory engine, color-matched (but unfinished) hardtop, two keys, factory owner’s manual, and service/assembly manuals are included.

The C3-generation Corvette was launched in 1968 and saw revisions to exterior styling, interior trim, and powertrains in 1970. Multiple engines were available, including the upgraded “L46” 350ci V8 featured on this example, though this car has been modified (see the modifications section). The Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission featured here was reportedly paired with the L46 V8 engine for only two years. Other interesting factory options as seen on this car are a fiber-optics light monitoring system and headlight washers. Series production of the C3-generation Corvette ended in 1982.
