1987 Mercedes-Benz

560SL

What We Like

Timeless long-hood, short-deck styling, a powerful V8, and a capable convertible chassis are all desirable attributes found in the iconic R107 Mercedes-Benz SL-series. This 560SL, finished in classic black with a black top over gray leather, is believed to have had long-term ownership and now shows just over 72k miles. The included accident-free Carfax report starts in May of 1990 and indicates a change of ownership/location to Florida in January 2006. Desirable options such as automatic climate control and an alarm are paired with minimal modifications. This 560SL offers the chance for its next owner to experience classic 1980s German motoring in style.

Vehicle History & Overview

The included accident-free Carfax report starts in May of 1990 when the car had 3,368 miles and was registered in New York. This 560SL later moved to Florida, and a new owner was reported in January of 2006. Based in part on the Carfax report, it is believed the car has had either two or three owners prior to its acquisition by the selling dealer. Modifications appear to be limited to a period-correct Alpine audio unit and trunk-mounted CD changer. The owner's manual, factory tool kit, hard top, and some service records are included.

The R107-chassis SL-series made its North American debut in 1972, with the 560SL arriving in 1986. Featuring a 5.5L V8 developing 227 horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque paired with a 4-speed automatic, the 560SL was capable of 0-60 mph in less than 7.0 seconds and could continue on to nearly 150 mph. Amenities included automatic climate control, leather and wood trim, power windows/mirrors, and an outside temperature gauge. A body-color removable hardtop was offered as seen on this example.
