2002 Mercedes-Benz

G500

What We Like

This G500 combines rugged off-road capability and military-grade hardware with a stylish exterior and luxurious interior. A long list of factory equipment and options is rivaled only by a clean Carfax report showing extensive service history from new. Other than an AMG-style side-exit exhaust system, this G500 is believed to be mechanically stock. In a world of vehicles portraying off-road ability, this G500 can deliver and go just about anywhere. Where will it take you first?

Seller Information

Vehicle History & Overview

Per the included clean Carfax report, this G500 was sold to its first, California-based owner in March 2002 and remained registered there until 2006. The reported second owner purchased this G500 as a Mercedes-Benz Certified vehicle and moved it to South Dakota, where it remained registered until 2018. The selling dealer purchased the vehicle in June 2022 from its Pennsylvania-based owner and has added approximately 3,000 of the 168,400 miles shown. An extensive equipment list is shown below, and service records are shown on the Carfax report. Two keys and the owner’s manuals are included.

Mercedes-Benz initially developed the G-class as a military vehicle. A civilian version was offered 1979, but US customers would have to wait more than two decades for Mercedes-Benz to include the vehicle in its product lineup. The G500 was launched in 2002 and was positioned as the S-class of off-road vehicles. Luxurious interiors belied the capability of the hardware underneath; the G500 had a true off-road chassis with a dual-range transfer case and locking front, center, and rear differentials. While most G-Wagens don’t venture off-road, these machines are capably of taking their passengers to places most 4-wheel-drive vehicles could only dream of accessing. Series production of the first-generation W463-chassis G-class ended in 2018.
