When enthusiasts hear the staccato rumble of a high-revving V-twin paired with the clatter of a dry clutch, one vehicle typically springs to mind… a Ducati motorcycle. The 2006 Ducati Paul Smart 1000LE featured here combines classic 1970s race-bike styling with the aural excitement that Ducatis deliver. This limited-edition bike celebrates Ducati’s first big win at the 1972 Imola 200, piloted by the late Paul Smart. Reportedly 2,250 copies of the model were manufactured. This example sports some tasteful upgrades and comes with OEM components should the buyer wish to return it to as-delivered new spec. May the new owner channel Paul Smart's talent when enjoying the sights and sounds of this special bike.

This 2006 Ducati Paul Smart 1000LE is finished in silver over a green tubular steel trellis frame. The second owner, represented here by the selling dealer, purchased this example in April 2019. The odometer reportedly shows 5,988 miles from new. Several modifications are present, as listed below. However, the original parts are also included with the sale.
In 1972 Ducati raced the new 750 SS Desmo at the Imola 200. Despite being outgunned against the MV Agusta dedicated race bikes, a young and talented Paul Smart hustled the Ducati to victory. This win changed the future trajectory for both Ducati and Smart. To commemorate that historic victory, Ducati released the Paul Smart 1000LE in 2006. Based on the Ducati 1000 Sport S, it was powered by a 992cc desmodromic V-twin that was factory-rated at 92 horsepower. This limited edition features styling after the original 750 SS Desmo race bike, inverted Ohlins front forks and matching Ohlins rear shock, Brembo brakes, wire wheels, and special Pirelli Phantom tires.
