The BRAT, short for Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter, was introduced in 1978 into the burgeoning compact pickup segment. One of its most unique features is a pair of bed-mounted, rear-facing jump-seats which allowed the BRAT to be listed as a passenger car and avoid the 25% import "Chicken tax". Styling was updated in 1981 and a larger, more powerful 1.8L flat-four-cylinder engine was introduced, as seen here. US series production ended in 1987.
