1977 Porsche

911S Targa

What We Like

Certain color combinations simply work well together. Such is the case with this striking dark blue over red 911S Targa with factory-optioned Fuchs alloy wheels. Recently, the seller rejuvenated the interior with factory red leather seats, carpets, and door panels. In addition, the vehicle was serviced and a new air conditioning compressor was installed. Other than the color change, this Targa appears to be free of significant modifications save for the Kenwood audio unit. This 911S Targa provides an excellent opportunity for the next owner to "get in and drive" an air-cooled 911 at an attractive entry point.

Seller Information

Vehicle History & Overview

This 911S Targa was produced in December 1976 and finished in Silver Metallic (Z2) over a black interior. Currently, the car is finished in dark blue metallic over a red leather interior. The seller acquired the vehicle in June 2021 and had it serviced, swapped the interior to red including the carpets, and installed a dashboard cover as the original dash is cracked. In addition, a new air conditioning compressor was fitted, and the system was serviced. Modifications appear to be limited to the aforementioned exterior/interior color change and a Kenwood audio unit with aftermarket speakers.

Porsche's Targa model was born as a result of roll-over crash standards and was the only way to buy an open-top 911 for many years. 1977 was a carry-over year for the 911 and the final year for the 2.7L engine. The S developed 175 horsepower when new and was paired with a 915-series 5-speed manual transmission. This particular Targa sports the optional "Light Metal Wheels," also known among enthusiasts as Fuchs alloys. Targas have become popular with open-air 911 enthusiasts seeking additional occupant protection and structural rigidity.
