1982 Porsche

911SC Targa

What We Like

An athletic chassis, sweet-sounding flat-six engine, and unfiltered manual steering are all part of the 911SCs charm. This 82k-mile Targa benefits from a respray in factory Guards red costing more than $11,000, has service records since 2019 totaling more than $9,600, and includes a clean Carfax report. Factory equipment includes sport seats, cruise control, fog lights, and 16" Fuchs alloy wheels. Modifications appear to be limited to a Porsche Classic Sport steering wheel and Blaupunkt stereo with upgraded speakers. This 911SC Targa is ready to provide a pure, air-cooled 911 experience for its next owner.

Vehicle History & Overview

Per the included accident-free Carfax report this 911SC was sold new to its Pennsylvania based owner in January 1982. It remained registered in Pennsylvania through May 2019 when it moved to Maryland. The current owner acquired the car in April 2022 and commissioned a respray in the factory Guards Red with a replacement weatherstripping kit, the total cost of which was over $11,000. Additional service records since 2019 totaling more than $9,600 are included along with the owner’s manuals and a factory tool-kit.

The 911SC is part of the G-series family and was produced from 1978 – 1983 in the US. The SC, short for Super Carrera, features a 3.0-liter flat-six paired with a “915-series” 5-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels. Even with modest horsepower, the SC's lightweight chassis and sharp handling dynamics made it competitive against more powerful cars of the era. The Targa version featured here brought additional structural rigidity and crash-protection over the convertible while still offering an open-air experience.
