What We Like

The Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser’s legendary off-road prowess can be further increased with carefully-selected upgrades. In addition to its extended cab hardtop and pickup bed, this FJ40 features a 17,000 pound winch, 10-ply military-style tires on 16-inch steel wheels, a high-clearance rear bumper with spare-tire swing-out, and a Safari-brand snorkel. The selling dealer reportedly had the head gasket replaced, carburetor rebuilt, cooling system flushed, and a lube/oil/filter service performed in preparation for this sale. Seller Information

Vehicle History & Overview

The selling dealer imported this FJ40 from Colombia, South America in September 2022 and has added less than 100 of the 72,700 kilometers shown. In preparation for auction, the selling dealer reports replacing the head gasket, rebuilding the carburetor, flushing the cooling system, and performing an lube/oil/filter service. A full list of modifications is shown below, with highlights including an enclosed extended cab with bench seat, 17,000 pound winch, Pioneer stereo and speakers, power windows, and late-model seats.

The FJ40-series Land Cruiser was launched in 1960. Thanks to simple body-on-frame construction, reasonable dimensions, and a back-to-basics approach in terms of interior and drivetrain, the FJ40 was very competitive in the marketplace. Over the years the Land Cruiser has earned a reputation for incredible reliability and near-indestructibility. That reputation has helped make the FJ40 and its derivatives very popular among off-roaders as well as for military applications. Production carried through 2001 for the Brazilian market, with ROW production ending in 1984.
