1989 Alfa Romeo

Spider Graduate 5-Speed

What We Like

The Alfa Romeo Spider epitomizes Italian motoring with its Pininfarina-designed bodywork, lightweight convertible chassis, and soulful four-cylinder engine. This 69k-mile example comes with an accident-free Carfax report and more than 20 years of service records according to the seller. Recent service includes driveline/suspension adjustments, new tires, and a new battery. Tasteful modifications include 14-inch Spider Veloce wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Kenwood stereo. This particular Spider features factory-optional air-conditioning, uncommon on Graduate-trimmed Spiders. This little Italian sports car is a great entry point into the Alfa Romeo marque.

Seller Information

Vehicle History & Overview

According to the included accident-free Carfax report, this Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate resided in New York from new until the seller acquired the car in April 2021. The seller states service records covering more than 20 years are included, with recent work including respraying the front hood, adjustments to the driveline/suspension, and replacement of the tires and battery. Modifications appear to be limited to a Kenwood stereo with aftermarket speakers front/rear, 14-inch Spider Veloce wheels, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Service records, multiple keys, owner’s manuals, and a cloth cover are included.

Alfa Romeo’s Spider is based on the Giuletta and was launched in 1966. The original Spider was designed by Pininfarina and was reportedly the last project on which company founder Battista Pininfarina was involved. Pininfarina was also responsible for manufacturing the body and final assembly. The Series 3 made its US-debut in 1982. The Graduate trim-level seen here included vinyl seating surfaces, with this example featuring the optional air-conditioning. Production of the Spider ceased in 1994.
