Automotive enthusiasts get excited discussing the term "Viggen," and when viewing this Lightning Blue example it's easy to see why. Intriguing features such as the center-console-mounted ignition switch and a night-mode that dims all interior lights except the speedometer highlight Saab’s unique “Born From Jets” character. A High-Output version of Saab’s turbocharged inline-four, paired to a 5-speed manual transaxle, offers commendable performance even by today’s standards. Supportive front bucket seats, a relatively roomy rear bench, and decent sized trunk ensure this vehicle is reasonably practical as well. Solid build-quality ensures this Viggen is ready to be enjoyed for years to come.

Sold new in July 2000, this Viggen resided in Oregon and Washington with its first three owners. The fourth owner purchased the vehicle in April 2017 and moved it to Idaho, where it stayed until the current owner purchased the vehicle in 2021. The car is believed to be highly original other than some cosmetic repairs to the front bumper by a prior owner. A clean Carfax report helps lend credence to the above statement and highlights some service history. Additional more recent service records are provided by the seller along with the original purchase agreement.
The Viggen was Saab’s answer to the established German sports-sedan trio. Starting with the already capable 9-3, Saab added a larger displacement, 2.3L high-output turbocharged inline-four, stiffer suspension, upgraded brakes, special 17-inch wheels, unique front/rear bumpers, and a rear spoiler. The cars have an interesting personality thanks to Saab’s link to fighter jets, which was incorporated into the car itself and marketing campaign. Today the cars have earned a following among enthusiasts seeking something different.
Viggens feature the following upgrades over a standard Saab 9-3:
Unique front/rear bumpers and rear spoiler
Special 17-inch wheels
Turbocharged 2.3L inline-four
Stiffened suspension
Upgraded brakes
Heated front sport bucket seats
Two-tone leather trim
