1980 Mercedes-Benz

280SL (Euro)

What We Like

As far as automotive icons go, few cars are as instantly-recognizable as an R107 Mercedes-Benz SL. This bright red 280SL is a European-specification example sold new in Germany and imported to the US during the 1980s. The car includes a factory hard top, has been kept stock mechanically, and is offered with documentation and service records since 1980. Modifications are limited to an updated stereo and embroidered floor mats. If you're on the hunt for a classic European convertible with head-turning looks and good documentation at an attractive entry point, this 280SL is well worth a look!

Vehicle History & Overview

This 1980 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is a European model purchased new in Germany and imported to the US during the 1980s according to documentation included in the sale. It is finished in red with a matching factory hard top and black canvas soft top over black upholstery. Power comes from an M110 DOHC 2.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission.

The selling dealer acquired this R107 SL in March 2024 and has added approximately 160 miles since. Per the selling dealer, the car is stock aside from reupholstered seats, an updated stereo system, and embroidered floor mats.

This 280SL is now offered with documentation and service records beginning in 1980, vintage photos of the car, German/English owner's manuals, a factory spare wheel/tire assembly with jack, tool kit, roadside kit, and a clean Maryland title.
