Lotus founder Colin Chapman’s guiding philosophy was to “add lightness.” This 25k-mile Elise embodies that ethos while also adding power -- with upgrades like a Magnuson supercharger and Larini euro-style exhaust system. The accident-free Carfax report for this first-year-of-US-sale Elise shows long-term California ownership from new until the North Dakota-based seller moved the car to his climate-controlled garage in February 2022. Additional upgrades include black powder-coated wheels and undertrays, a mesh grille, and an Alpine audio unit with Polk speakers. This Elise punches well above its weight and is ready to hit the next apex with its new owner.

Per the included accident-free Carfax report, this Elise was sold to its first California-based owner in December 2004. It remained registered in California through February 2022, when it was acquired by the seller and moved to North Dakota. The seller reports having added less than 100 of the 25,800 miles shown and that the Elise is stored in a climate-controlled garage. A full list of upgrades is shown in the Modifications section and includes a Magnuson supercharger, Sector 111 engine software, Larini exhaust, black powder-coated wheels, and much more. Two sets of keys/remotes, factory owner’s manuals, a factory grille, a cover for the removable top, and a full vehicle cover are included.
After many years of being forbidden fruit, the eagerly anticipated Lotus Elise was released to US customers for the 2005 model year. Bringing the Lotus Elise to the US market wasn’t easy, requiring a new engine to meet US emissions regulations along with an exemption for headlight and bumper requirements. The new engine was a version of Toyota’s 2ZZ-GE inline four-cylinder engine utilizing a Yamaha-designed cylinder head and Lotus-specific software. Rated output was 189 horsepower when new, which combined with its svelte 2,000-pound curb-weight yielded published 0 – 60 mph times of 4.9 seconds or less. Series production for the US market ended in 2011.
