Patina only accumulates naturally and often tells stories of the object’s life. This MG TD has generous patina and according to the selling dealer, could possibly be driven once mechanical refurbishment has been completed. The vehicle has reportedly had one owner since 1956, and although the vehicle has sat for many years, the engine does turn. Per the selling dealer, the corrosion is surface-only and there is no structural damage. This MG is offered at NO RESERVE and could serve as the basis for either a driver-grade car or a full restoration project.

This MG TD is believed to have had one owner since 1956. It was recently discovered after having sat for many years and was acquired as a project by the selling dealer. The vehicle’s current shade is believed to be British Racing Green and dates from sometime in the 1950s, although the original color is noted as being red. Per the selling dealer corrosion is surface only with no “rot” and there does not appear to be any structural damage. The selling dealer further states the engine does turn, although internal condition is unknown.
The MG TD was launched in 1950 as a successor to the much-loved TC. Although visually similar to its predecessor, the TD featured many major changes, including a new MG Y-type chassis, independent front suspension, a new 4-speed manual transmission, and a modified hypoid-geared rear axle. Other changes include smaller 15-inch road wheels, standard equipment bumpers with overriders, and a new left-hand-drive option. Americans loved the TD and reportedly bought more than 23,000 of them. Series production ended in 1953.
