1953 Chevrolet

Street Rod

What We Like

Hot-rodding is an American tradition nearly as old as the automobile itself. This 1953 Chevy street rod rumbles along to the soundtrack of a 350ci V8 engine and is draped in custom blue paint with a two-tone interior. A removable hardtop and pickup bed make this vehicle usable for more than just the occasional cruise. Tunes are courtesy of a Pioneer stereo with speakers mounted in a diamond-plate covered center console. An automatic transmission allows for stress-free driving even in heavy traffic. Offered at NO RESERVE, this monochromatic street rod is ready to offer many smiles-per-mile for its next owner as a part of American car culture.

Vehicle History & Overview

Research indicates this street rod started life as a 1953 Chevrolet half-ton commercial pickup truck and was manufactured at the Janesville, Wisconsin plant. The modifications were performed under prior ownership and are extensive, with a more detailed list shown below. Highlights include a GM 350ci V8 engine, removable hard-top, custom bodywork/paint, and two-tone interior trim. A Pioneer stereo and speakers with a diamond-plate center console is bracketed by bucket seats trimmed in two-tone blue cloth.

Shortly after WWII ended in 1945 GM got to work on a new truck and launched the “Advance-Design” series in 1947. It was available in multiple configurations, including the half-ton pickup that is believed to underpin the featured hot rod. Power was initially provided by a 216ci inline-six-cylinder engine mated to a manual transmission. 1953 was the last year for the split-window front windshield, a cut-down version of which is still present on this street rod. Series production of the “Advance-Design” series of trucks ended in 1955.
