1989 Toyota

Land Cruiser BJ70 Soft Top

What We Like

Toyota’s 70-series Land Cruiser is revered not only for its capabilities but also for its continuous length of production. The current model is in fact, a face-lifted version of the original launched in 1984. This right-hand-drive, short wheelbase 2-door BJ70 is the recipient of recent upgrades, such as 15-inch Fuel wheels with 33-inch Cooper tires, a Safari-brand snorkel, IPF headlights, a replacement soft-top, new brakes, and more. Toyota’s stout 3B-code diesel four-cylinder engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and four-wheel-drive. This back-to-basics Land Cruiser will make a faithful go-anywhere companion for the next owner.

Seller Information

Vehicle History & Overview

The selling dealer acquired this BJ70 Land Cruiser in March 2019 and has added less than 200 of the 189,200 kilometers shown. This short wheelbase Land Cruiser is powered by Toyota’s venerable 3B 3.4L diesel inline four-cylinder engine backed with a 5-speed manual transmission and four-wheel-drive. The selling dealer reports adding 15-inch Fuel alloy wheels with 33-inch Cooper STT Pro tires, a Safari-brand snorkel, and IPF headlights. Services performed by the selling dealer comprise multiple oil changes, replacement of the brakes, and installation of a replacement soft-top. Removed factory parts, spare parts, and multiple keys are included.

The 70-series Land Cruiser was introduced in 1984 as a replacement for the now-legendary 40/45-series models. The 70-series has always been biased towards commercial and military uses and was never offered for sale to the US market. A 2007 facelift modernized the aging styling, however the vehicle remains largely unchanged from its 1984 debut. Multiple versions exist, including the not-often-seen short wheelbase version featured here. A back-to-basics design and stout powertrains provide true go-anywhere ability. As of 2022, the 70-series remains in production and has received updates to meet the latest emissions and crash-test standards.
