What We Like

Porsche’s expansive options sheet allows for personalized build specifications. That's the case with this 996, which features Carrara White paint over a Metropol Blue full leather interior, 17-inch wheels, sport bucket seats, carbon fiber trim, flared rocker panels, paint-matched center console, deviated stitching, and more. Recent servicing under the seller includes replacing the intermediate shaft (IMS) bearing and water pump. Seller Information

Vehicle History & Overview

Per the included clean Carfax report this 911 was sold to its first North Carolina-based owner -- reportedly American racing legend Hurley Haywood -- in October 2001. The second owner purchased the vehicle as a Porsche Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from Brumos Porsche in September 2004 and kept the vehicle in Florida until the seller acquired it in February 2021. Included service documentation under the seller, totaling more than $3,200, shows replacement of the intermediate shaft bearing, water pump, coolant expansion tank, and more. Service records since new, some showing the name “Haywood,” are included along with the owner’s manuals, factory mufflers and radio, and two keys.

2002 was the first year of the face-lifted 996-chassis 911. New headlights brought the styling in line with other 911s, and revised aerodynamics improved high-speed handling. The overall dimensions and weight were similar to its predecessor which, combined with the 20 horsepower increase from the larger 3.6L engine, yielded excellent contemporary performance. Interior tweaks included new cupholders and updates to materials and trim to yield an even more upscale cabin. Porsche’s extensive options list could yield countless interesting build-sheets, as found on this example.
