1962 Land Rover

88 Series IIA

What We Like

The Land Rover 88 Series IIA is one of the most recognizable off-road-biased vehicles ever produced. This Series IIA reportedly benefits from a recent re-spray in green, a transfer case rebuild, and replacement of the spark plugs, distributor rotor, carburetor, and more. A heavy-duty fully boxed frame, lightweight aluminum body, and robust inline four-cylinder engine bolster the Series IIA’s reputation as a rugged, reliable, “go anywhere” vehicle. Per the selling dealer, a variety of spares and removed factory parts are included, and the vehicle carries a clean Utah title. This Land Rover is equally ready to hit the trails or cruise around town.

Vehicle History & Overview

This Land Rover Series IIA was reportedly imported from England in 2019 under prior ownership and was acquired by the selling dealer in February 2020. Per the seller, the vehicle received a respray in green, lube/oil/filter service, new spark plugs and distributor rotor, new carburetor, a transfer-case rebuild, and more. Removed factory parts and a variety of spare components are included along with multiple keys and the owner’s manuals.

Land Rover’s Series IIA is an updated version of the original that was launched in 1948. Although likely inspired by the Willys Jeep, Land Rovers forged their own path to greatness thanks to unique features like a heavy-duty, fully boxed frame and a lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum body. The Series IIA was launched in 1961 with minor styling revisions and updated mechanicals. Some enthusiasts claim that the Series IIA may be one of the best-built Land Rover series vehicles.
