Vehicle History & Overview

The seller purchased this 500SL new from Von Housen Motors in Sacramento, California and kept it in the greater Placerville, California area until moving to Montana in mid-2019. Included documentation dates back to the original purchase order, and the car now shows 59,900 miles. Modifications appear to be limited to a period-correct, aftermarket Alpine audio system and Mercedes-Benz 500E chrome wheels.

Mercedes-Benz launched the R129-chassis SL-class in 1989. Classic long-hood, short-deck styling was accentuated with a low, wide stance that gave the car massive road-presence. Performance matched the good looks thanks to a variety of powerful engines, the most common of which is the 5.0L V8 featured on this example. Smooth-shifting automatic transmissions were the most common and were paired with a solid, yet sporting chassis to create superb road manners. Production ended in 2002.

Imperfections

The included Carfax report is accident-free, but does list a minor damage report in May 2019 from when the seller had the cowl and some electrical wiring repaired due to rodent damage. Cosmetic flaws are listed below:
