1961 Lincoln

Continental Sedan

What We Like

Few vehicles carry the presence of a 1960s Lincoln Continental, with its massive slab-sided body and "suicide" rear doors. This first-year example shows just 50,200 miles and features the elegant color combination of Nautilus Gray over red leather. Ownership history since 1994 is included, and the vehicle is reportedly accident-free and mechanically original. The selling dealer states the vehicle is rust-free and that imperfections are limited to some paint flaws on the trunk lid. Whether it's Cars and Coffee or a night on the town, you'll arrive in style in this classic Continental.

Vehicle History & Overview

This Nautilus Gray over red leather Continental is reportedly mechanically original and accident-free. Ownership history since 1994 is included, and the owner has added approximately 100 of the 50,200 miles shown. The selling dealer indicates the vehicle has been in a private collection since 2018 and was not registered for road use during that time. According to the seller, the trunk lid was reportedly painted at some point and shows some bubbling in a few spots.

The fourth-generation Lincoln Continental was launched in 1961 and saw not only a complete redesign of the car, but a rebirth of the brand. The new Continental was based on a stretched version of the Thunderbird unibody chassis and was the first Lincoln since 1951 to feature the iconic rear-hinged rear doors. Luxury features abound in the Continental, including a “door-ajar” light for the rear doors, leather interior, tilt-adjustable steering column, and California walnut veneer on the dash and doors. The Continental was reportedly the first US-manufactured car to carry a 2-year, 24k-mile warranty.
