Porsche released the 993-chassis 911 to the US market in 1995, with the “4S” variant seen here arriving in 1996. These cars featured the most advanced version of the air-cooled engine yet, which also proved to be its swan song. Chassis and suspension tweaks over its predecessors include the innovative Kinematic passive rear-steering system. Other changes included revised bodywork across the entire 993 chassis with aerodynamic bumpers and flared rear fenders being the most prominent changes. The “4S” variants received the wider bodywork, suspension, and brakes from the 911 Turbo paired with the naturally aspirated engine from the standard 911. Some consider these to be the best versions of the 993-chassis due to the purity of the drive paired with the stunning Coke-bottle shape of the wider bodywork.
