This TR6 was purchased by the seller in July 2015 as an incomplete project. Subsequently, the seller undertook a multi-year refurbishment that saw the body re-sprayed in Lexus Black Jade Pearl, removal/overhaul of the frame, and numerous additional modifications, as detailed in the Modifications section below. Highlights include installation of a GM-based 4.3L V6, 5-speed manual transmission, custom suspension work, custom wire harnesses, a refreshed interior, and more. A build book, receipts, and manuals are included.
Triumph launched the TR6 in 1968 and the car was immediately a success. More aggressive exterior styling was paired with the factory 2.5L inline-six-cylinder engine. Changes over the production run were minimal, but 1970 saw the introduction of slightly wider 15" wheels. Earlier cars feature the more desirable smaller bumperettes and Wilton wool carpets. Series production of the TR6 ended in 1976. Many cars have been modified, some with completely new drivetrains, such as the example featured here.
