For years, the saying was that if you wanted to know the technology that would be in your average car ten years from now, look no further than today’s Mercedes-Benz S-class. This late-model W140 S600 features a naturally-aspirated 6.0L V12 engine, a refined 5-speed automatic transmission, self-leveling suspension, four-zone climate control, and more. A clean Carfax report shows some service history while modifications appear to be limited to a Kenwood stereo. This S600 is ready to cosset its passengers in understated comfort on many a long-distance journey.

Per the included clean Carfax report this S600 was sold to its first California-based owner in May 1996 and moved to Florida in 1999. Records in the Carfax indicate this Mercedes spent time in Washington before returning to Florida and eventually settling in Maryland. The selling dealer acquired this S600 in November 2022 and has added 300 of the 102,200 miles shown. Modifications include a Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo with an XM satellite radio antenna mounted above the driver’s side front windshield. The owner’s manuals are included.
Mercedes-Benz spent over eight years developing the W140-chassis S-class and released the car to US buyers in 1991. The S600 featured here was the flagship and was powered by an M120 6.0L V12 engine paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission (starting in 1995). Innovative features abounded that are now commonplace, such as hydro-pneumatic adaptive suspension, a CD-ROM based GPS navigation system, Parktronic sonar-based parking system, four-zone climate control, auto-dimming interior mirror, rain-sensing wipers, and much more. Many consider the W140 S-class the last real S-class thanks in part to its legendary build quality.
